With so many different things to consider before travelling abroad, it can be difficult to feel totally prepared.
Here, we share our top 4 international travel tips which we hope will help you before you head off on your next holiday!
Passport
Before you book your holiday, make sure that your passport is valid for as much time as the country you are visiting requires, this is usually between 3 and 6 months, and apply for a new one with plenty of time to spare if necessary.
It is also a good idea to make copies of your passport, just in case it is lost or stolen. Keep an electronic copy on your phone, and give a paper copy to someone you trust at home too.
Money
Remember to work out the currency conversion rate before you travel, as this will enable you to keep track of exactly how much you are spending, and whether you are getting a good deal or not.
Let your bank know that you are going abroad so that you can use your cards while you are away, as many banks will view spending in different countries as suspicious if you haven’t forewarned them.
Ensure that you take some cash with you, even if you plan to use your cards, as you may come across places which only accept cash, including when using public transport.
Research
Before you head off on your holiday, do some research into where you are staying, things to do, and places to eat, so that you can plan your trip. This is the best way to ensure that you make the most of every day.
You may also find that you can book activities in advance and save a bit of money, so it is definitely worth checking before you travel.
Health
Depending on where you are visiting, you made need to have some vaccinations to protect you from becoming unwell while on holiday, so have a chat with your doctor before you go.
Remember to pack simple medicines, such as paracetamol and ibuprofen, so you know that you have them to hand if required, and don’t forget insect repellent and sun cream if you are heading to warmer climates!
